Gain a sound knowledge, understanding and practical appreciation to become a qualified Machinist, Fabricator, Welder, or a specialised Mechanical Engineer. You’ll discover the processes and theory by developing your ability to apply learning in a hands-on and innovative way.

While our certificate programmes in mechanical engineering will fast track your trade career, our Engineering Technology diploma and degree qualifications are ideal for those who want to learn the mechanics of how to design things, make things, build things, solve problems and understand how things work.

The biggest point of difference at Otago Polytechnic is our real-world approach to learning. The experience you’ll gain on industry projects as part of your programme will give you the skills to seamlessly transition from study to employment within the mechanical industry.
